The “thread lift” or the PDO threading procedure

A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin. Instead of removing the patient’s loose facial skin surgically, the cosmetic surgeon simply suspends it by stitching up portions of it.

It is a 15-45 minute procedure depending on the number of threads used, the various thread lengths, diameter and shape give a wide range of addressing wrinkles of the skin anywhere on the face and body.

How does the PDO threading procedure work?

The PDO threading procedure involves using various lengths of thin acupuncture sterile needles to embed PDO dissolving threads deep underneath the surface of the skin. These wires are placed strategically into the dermis, where it acts as a frame for lifting and tightening loose and sagging skin. The material from which these threads are made, Polydioxanone, is a safe substance that keeps the skin in its new tightened state for 4-6 months, whilst also synthesizing new collagen production.

This treatment can be used on the face, but also in various areas of the body where the main objective is creating a lift, rather than restoring volume.

What are the benefits of embedded threading procedures?

VIOLA SMOOTH (PDO Thread)

VIOLA SMOOTH threads (mono threads) are available both in PDO (Polydioxanone) and PLLA (Polylactic Acid). The expected efficacy of PDO threads treatment averages 6 to 12 month, and PLLA has its average efficacy of 18 to 24 months.

VIOLA GOLD (PDO Thread)

The VIOLA GOLD thread, however, uses PGA (Polyglycolic) threads for pure golds to be coated to maximize its benefit. As the PGA biodegrades faster than PDO, coated gold remains in shape at its desired location for longer period.

The benefit of pure gold on skin is to increase skin’s elasticity, lightening the skin complexion, stimulating the cells making the skin firm, improving blood circulation, preventing premature aging of the skin, etc. This gold coated thread is to deliver this pure gold deep inside the dermis layer to maximize its benefit.

As the suture biodegrades underneath the skin, wound will start healing along with neocollagenesis, producing more collagen & elastin.

VIOLA COGLYFT uses blunt cannula for safe delivery of absorbable barbed suture inside the deep layers of the skin. VIOLA PLENTI is made up with 75 pieces of microfine (USP 11-0) PLLA sutures attached to a single 2g needle. After simple insertion underneath the eye, each PLLA thread slowly disperses underneath the skin, helping the blood flow and treats dark circles and promotes neocollagenesis.
