The “thread lift” or the PDO threading procedure

A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin. Instead of removing the patient’s loose facial skin surgically, the cosmetic surgeon simply suspends it by stitching up portions of it.

It is a 15-45 minute procedure depending on the number of threads used, the various thread lengths, diameter and shape give a wide range of addressing wrinkles of the skin anywhere on the face and body.

How does the PDO threading procedure work?

The PDO threading procedure involves using various lengths of thin acupuncture sterile needles to embed PDO dissolving threads deep underneath the surface of the skin. These wires are placed strategically into the dermis, where it acts as a frame for lifting and tightening loose and sagging skin. The material from which these threads are made, Polydioxanone, is a safe substance that keeps the skin in its new tightened state for 4-6 months, whilst also synthesizing new collagen production.

This treatment can be used on the face, but also in various areas of the body where the main objective is creating a lift, rather than restoring volume.
